Saints Vitus, Wenceslaus and Adalbert
Fino al 1997 la Cattedrale metropolitana di Praga era dedicata solo ed esclusivamente a San Vito, per questo motivo è ancora oggi conosciuta così. Situata all’interno del complesso del castello di Praga, oggi rappresenta uno degli esempi di architettura gotica più conosciuti in Europa.
La prima pietra della cattedrale fu posta nel 1344 quando il re Carlo IV decise di “regalare” al suo popolo un luogo di culto dove poter professare la proprio religione. Con il passare degli anni, però, tra guerre e vicissitudini varie, l’opera di costruzione subì diversi blocchi, ma alla fine del 16° secolo fu completata (Ci fu un importante restauro solo nel 19° secolo).
L’entrata per i visitatori è situata nella zona ovest, attraversando un enorme portone bronzeo: all’interno si notano subito i forti richiami gotici con la gigantesca navata centrale, altissima, ed i due corridoi più stretti ai lati.
Per accedere alla cappella di San Venceslao dovrete acquistare un ticket, che mi permetterà anche di accedere al coro: ne vale sicuramente la pena!

Trasporto: potete raggiungere la piazza con la metro A (fermata Hradčanská) e poi spostarvi a piedi verso la cattedrale. Altra soluzione è quella di utilizzare il tram 22 e scendere a Pražský hrad
